About the Press

The Brown Wing Press was launched in 2009 to meet the need for a craft-oriented approach to publishing. We are particularly interested in books that do not fall into tidy genre categories but are well-executed examples of the art of story-telling.

What We Are

We are discerning readers who want to help new authors navigate their way into the literary marketplace. We have structured our publishing house upon the belief that traditional conventions between author and publisher are no longer necessary. We want to enable authors to bypass both the agent and the editor and work directly with us to produce and market their own work.

We are designers. We will produce a professional cover for your book so that it can hold its own on the shelf.

We are distributors. We will make your book available online and in book-stores so anyone can buy a copy.

What We Are Not

We are not editors. If we like your book, we will offer to publish it. If we don't like your book, we will not ask you to change, we will simply choose not to represent you.

We are not buyers. Our contract leaves authors with the rights to their own work. As such, we do not pay up front, but per copy sold. This allows us the freedom to take risks on new voices that might otherwise go unheard.
